A U.S. envoy is expected to visit Russia over the weekend to discuss options for a Russia-Ukraine peace agreement.
According to Commitment of Traders data, managed money in CBT wheat futures and options flipped back to a net long position of 14,654 contracts during the week of September 1, a change of 28,825 contracts. In KC wheat, speculative funds increased their net long position by 6,222 contracts to 50,284 contracts.
According to Export Sales data released Thursday, U.S. wheat export commitments for 2026/27 stand at 8.66 million metric tons, down 31% from the same period last year. This represents only 41% of the USDA export projection and is behind the five-year average pace of 49%.
