Peanut prices rise despite strong arrivals

New Delhi. Expectations of a bumper harvest have led to a robust arrival of Kharif peanuts in major markets in other states, including top-producing states like Gujarat and Rajasthan. However, instead of putting pressure on prices, prices are seeing a significant increase. This indicates good buying and selling in the peanut market. Furthermore, the supply of low-moisture and high-quality produce is now increasing.
Arrivals
During the week of November 8-14, peanut prices in Gondal, Gujarat, reached 35,000-40,000 bags daily and in Rajkot, 50,000-55,000 bags daily. However, prices improved by ₹125 to ₹5,000/6,500 per quintal in Gondal and ₹250 to ₹4,000/6,250 per quintal in Rajkot.
Rajasthan
While limited trading in Bikaner, Rajasthan, resulted in a steady price of ₹5,200 per quintal, the price in Solapur, Maharashtra, rose by ₹400 to ₹6,800 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
The biggest increase in peanut prices was recorded in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, where prices jumped by ₹800 to ₹4,800/5,600 per quintal. In Jhansi, prices improved by ₹100 to ₹4,700/5,000 per quintal, while in Mauranipur, prices remained stable at ₹4,500/5,400 per quintal. Both markets received good arrivals.
Peanut Seeds
However, weak trading in shelled peanut seeds led to a drop of ₹500 per quintal in Bikaner. However, strong demand from millers and exporters in Solapur and Nagpur, Maharashtra, kept prices firm.
Peanut Oil / Branded Oil
Loose peanut oil prices increased significantly due to higher peanut prices. In Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar, Gujarat, prices rose by ₹65 to ₹1,450 per 10 kg. Similarly, in Rajkot, the price of a 15 kg tin of oil increased by ₹130 to ₹2,390. Other centers also saw increases of ₹100 per kg. Prices of branded and filtered oil also improved.
