Paddy and rice prices are mixed in response to demand and supply.

New Delhi. Arrivals, especially of Basmati and 'A' grade rice, have begun to increase in all major producing markets, while a significant portion of general-grade Basmati rice is reaching government procurement centers. Large quantities of it are being procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the central pool. The central government has fixed the MSP for paddy at Rs. 2,369 per quintal for general-grade rice and Rs. 2,389 per quintal for 'A' grade rice. It should be noted that the MSP for Basmati rice is not fixed, and its price depends on market conditions.
Delhi
During the week of November 8-14, Delhi's Narela Mandi witnessed daily arrivals of between 30,000 and 50,000 bags of paddy, and prices fell by Rs. 100 per quintal due to weak demand. Najafgarh Mandi also received 10,000 to 20,000 bags of paddy. Incoming supplies ranged from 7,000 to 5,000 bags (varyingly) at Bhatpara and Rajim markets in Chhattisgarh. Prices remained somewhat firm in Rajim.
Punjab/Amritsar
Millers and processors in Amritsar, Punjab, continue to be interested in purchasing Basmati rice, which is why prices increased by ₹100 per quintal despite the large supply. Arrivals at Tarn Taran market on November 3rd were 90,000 bags, which gradually declined to 40,000 bags on November 14th.
Uttar Pradesh
Basmati rice has been arriving in various markets in Uttar Pradesh for quite some time. Good arrivals are being seen in Etah, Mainpuri, Jahangirabad, Shahjahanpur, Aligarh, Khair, and Dibai. Good quantities of rice are also arriving in Dabra in Madhya Pradesh, Kota and Bundi in Rajasthan, and Gondia in Maharashtra.
Rice
As for rice, there is general buying interest from domestic traders, stockists, and exporters. Due to good stock availability and weak demand from buyers in Uttarakhand's Nagar Mandi, prices of various rice varieties fell sharply by ₹200 to ₹400 per quintal, while prices in Bundi, Rajasthan improved by ₹50. Rice prices remained stable due to a balance between demand and supply in Delhi's Naya Bazaar and Haryana's Karnal.
