Market Stability Amidst Limited Trading
New Delhi: Prices in the groundnut and groundnut products market remained largely stable during the week of August 29 to September 4 due to extremely limited trading activity. The price of whole groundnuts rose by ₹100 per quintal only in Solapur, reaching ₹95 per quintal, while rates remained steady in markets such as Rajkot, Bikaner, Jhansi, and Mahoba.
Groundnut Kernels
Demand for shelled groundnut kernels remained weak. Prices dropped by ₹100–200 per quintal in Solapur and Nagpur.
Groundnut Oil
In Gujarat’s Rajkot, Gondal, Junagadh, and Jamnagar markets, the price of loose groundnut oil remained steady at ₹1,700 per 10 kg; however, the price of a 15-kg tin rose by ₹25 to reach ₹2,700. Prices remained largely unchanged at previous levels in other trading centers.
Branded Oil
No price fluctuations were observed for branded groundnut oil in Kota, where it held steady at ₹2,950 per tin (15 liters). However, the price of filtered groundnut oil in Jaipur softened by ₹10 per 10 kg.
Groundnut Oil Cake
The market for groundnut oil cake remained quiet and stable, whereas a decline of ₹1,000–2,000 per tonne was recorded for DOC (De-oiled Cake).
Production
The cultivation area for Kharif groundnut reached 49.61 lakh hectares by September 4, 2026, which is 83,000 hectares less than the 50.44 lakh hectares sown during the same period last year. Crop conditions are reported to be satisfactory.
