★मुंबई, 20 मार्च – इंटरनेशनल ग्रेन्स काउंसिल (IGC) ने 2026-27 में वैश्विक खाद्यान्न उत्पादन 2.42 अरब टन रहने का अनुमान जताया है, जो पिछले वर्ष के संशोधित 2.47 अरब टन से करीब 2% कम है। गिरावट की वजह कम बोआई क्षेत्र और घटती उत्पादकता बताई गई है।
★खपत लगातार चौथे साल बढ़कर रिकॉर्ड 2.44 अरब टन रहने का अनुमान है, जिससे वैश्विक स्टॉक घटकर 609 मिलियन टन रह सकता है।
★गेहूं उत्पादन 822 मिलियन टन (पिछले वर्ष 845 मिलियन टन) और मक्का उत्पादन 1.30 अरब टन रहने का अनुमान है, जबकि दोनों की खपत उत्पादन से अधिक रहने की संभावना है।
★चावल उत्पादन 548 मिलियन टन के रिकॉर्ड स्तर पर पहुंच सकता है, जिसमें भारत की भूमिका अहम रहेगी। सोयाबीन उत्पादन भी बढ़कर 442 मिलियन टन के नए उच्च स्तर पर पहुंचने का अनुमान है।
★IGC ने पश्चिम एशिया में जारी तनाव के कारण खाद और ईंधन लागत बढ़ने से सप्लाई चेन पर जोखिम की भी चेतावनी दी है, जिसका असर आगे बुवाई और उत्पादन पर पड़ सकता है।

★Mumbai, March 20 — The International Grains Council (IGC) has projected global foodgrain production for 2026-27 at 2.42 billion tonnes, marking a decline of about 2% from the previous year’s revised estimate of 2.47 billion tonnes. The drop is attributed to lower sowing area and reduced yields.
★According to the report, global consumption is expected to rise for the fourth consecutive year to a record 2.44 billion tonnes. With consumption exceeding production, global stocks are likely to decline to around 609 million tonnes, tightening the overall supply situation.
★Among key crops, wheat production is projected at 822 million tonnes, down from 845 million tonnes last year. Maize output is estimated at 1.30 billion tonnes, with consumption of both crops expected to surpass production, keeping pressure on inventories.
★On the positive side, rice production is forecast to reach a record 548 million tonnes, supported significantly by India. Soybean output is also expected to hit a new high of 442 million tonnes.
★The IGC has cautioned that ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia are pushing up fertilizer and fuel costs, posing risks to global supply chains. This could impact upcoming planting decisions and future production.
