USDA reported private export sales of 250,600 metric tons of soybeans to unknown destinations for 2026/27 shipment this morning. Including sales to unknown destinations and China, the total announced sales for the week have reached 939,600 metric tons.
According to the weekly CFTC report, managed money increased its net long position in soybean futures and options by 42,929 contracts to nearly a record 241,183 contracts. The increase was mainly driven by new long positions. Speculative funds in soybean meal increased their net long position to a record 158,741 contracts, a change of 61,705 contracts.
According to Export Sales data, old-crop soybean export commitments stand at 41.86 million metric tons, down 18% from the same period last year. This represents 101% of the USDA export projection. New-crop sales have accumulated to 16.28 million metric tons, more than double the same period last year and already representing 36% of the USDA projection.
According to Brazil’s Ministry of Trade data, soybean exports totaled 9.81 million metric tons in August. This was lower than July but still 5.17% higher than August 2025.
