Rain Damages Sesame Crop in India
★ Sesame sowing in India is almost at par with last year, but heavy rainfall in key states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka has damaged early-sown crops.
★ This has led stockists to become active, anticipating a possible decline in production, which in turn has created a bullish market trend.
★ In Uttar Pradesh, the government has distributed subsidized seeds to promote sesame cultivation. However, excessive rainfall has caused higher soil moisture levels, raising concerns over production. Similar delays are also being observed in other regions.
