Moong prices fall due to weak buying

During the current week, a downward trend has been observed in the prices of moong. Prices remained under pressure due to increased selling at increased prices in the market and weak buying. Sporadic arrivals of new moong have started in the major producing markets of Karnataka and Maharashtra. However, it will take about 15 days for the pressure of arrival to build up completely. But in view of the possible arrival of the new crop, stockists have already increased selling, due to which softness is being recorded in the prices of moong. Meanwhile, an increase in sowing of moong has been registered in Kharif season 2025. According to the latest data of the Department of Agriculture, this year the sowing area of moong across the country has increased to 32.2 lakh hectares, which is 1.10 lakh hectares more than the same period last year. If in the coming days the pressure of arrivals increases and the demand does not improve, then a further fall in the prices of moong is possible. The eyes of the market are now fixed on the pace of arrival of the new crop and the weather conditions. Due to increased selling and weak buying by dal millers, the prices of Delhi moong have fallen by Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week and with this fall the prices remained at Madhya Pradesh line Rs. 7300/7350 and Uttar Pradesh line Rs. 7400/7500 per quintal.
