International Wheat Market
Weekly CFTC data showed that as of August 5, spec funds added 15,445 contracts to their net short position in CBT wheat, taking it to 80,759 contracts. In KC wheat futures and options, managed money added 9,783 contracts to their net short, reaching 57,063 contracts.
Analysts estimate that Tuesday’s Crop Production report will peg total US wheat production at 1.922 billion bushels, down 7 million bushels from last month.
USDA reports that the 2025/26 wheat export book (including shipped and unshipped sales) stands at 10.309 MMT, the highest for this week since 2017/18. This is 20% ahead of last year and represents 45% of USDA’s forecast, compared to the 41% average pace.
France’s Farm Ministry estimates the country’s wheat crop at 33.1 MMT, up 0.5 MMT from last month. IKAR estimates Russia’s wheat crop at 84.5 MMT, also up 0.5 MMT from the previous projection.
