Claims of Strait of Hormuz Closure Amidst Intense Conflict in West Asia

Tehran: A fierce conflict involving Iran, the US, and Israel has reignited in West Asia, creating an atmosphere of panic across the Middle East and the Gulf region. Amidst this, Iran's military organization, the IRGC, has claimed that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed to vessel traffic and that ships attempting to pass through without Iranian permission could face danger.

Although the US maintains that the Strait remains open and is escorting vessels through the area under naval supervision, the fear generated by Iran is so intense that shipping companies are refraining from sending their vessels there.

Explosions have occurred in the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas, and the US has carried out bombings in other locations as well. Iran is targeting US military installations in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan; however, surprisingly, it is not attacking countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Qatar.

It is believed that these nations have paid substantial sums to Iran as a form of "bribe" in exchange for immunity from attack. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz raises concerns that India's exports of commodities such as Basmati rice, tea, coffee, spices, and oil meal to the Gulf region could once again be disrupted.
