Specifically, exports stood at around 25,000 tonnes in March, 20,000 tonnes in April, and 27,000 tonnes in May. Pakistan was the largest buyer during the quarter, importing 26,000 tonnes. India ranked second, importing a total of 12,262 tonnes of *desi* chickpeas from Australia over the quarter—comprising 6,233 tonnes in March, 1,982 tonnes in April, and 4,047 tonnes in May. Other significant importers included the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with 10,831 tonnes,
Bangladesh with 7,443 tonnes, and Nepal with 5,255 tonnes. Additionally, smaller quantities were exported to countries such as Sri Lanka, Canada, England, Turkey, and the USA. Production in Australia is expected to drop significantly during the current year.
