Chennai. The Regional Meteorological Center has predicted widespread light to moderate rain or drizzle with thunderstorms in various parts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry due to the influence of an upper cyclonic circulation.

Four districts of Tamil Nadu—Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Theni, and Tenkasi—are expected to receive heavy rainfall over the next 24 to 48 hours.

A bulletin from the Meteorological Center stated that heavy rainfall of up to 8 cm was recorded in some districts of Tamil Nadu during the last 24 hours, including Ranipet, Tenkasi, and Bellary.

In addition, good rainfall occurred in Rameswaram, Vadapudupattu, Sivaganga, Chennai, and Bodinayakanur, as well as surrounding areas. This could benefit the paddy crop and harm other Kharif crops.

The Meteorological Centre's bulletin states that Chennai and its adjoining areas will remain cloudy and there may be intermittent rain.

It is noteworthy that the southwest monsoon has not yet reached Tamil Nadu during its return journey, but it is raining there due to the effect of upper air cyclonic circulation.

After the departure of the southwest monsoon, the activity of the northeast monsoon may increase. According to the bulletin, light to moderate rain may occur in many areas, but its intensity will increase significantly in some places.
