According to the latest data from the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), India’s exports of rice and pulses remained strong during the April–August 2025 period.
As per APEDA, exports of basmati rice stood at 27.35 lakh tons, while non-basmati rice exports were higher at 56.17 lakh tons. Non-basmati rice continued to be the largest contributor to India’s total agri-exports during the period.
Pulses exports also saw a notable increase, reaching 3.71 lakh tons.
In addition, groundnut exports were 3.10 lakh tons, guar gum 2.28 lakh tons, and cashew 15,170 tons. Exports of other cereals were recorded at 2.82 lakh tons, while milled products accounted for 1.13 lakh tons.
Cashew nut shell liquid exports stood at 12,173 tons, and wheat exports were only 2,455 tons, significantly lower compared to last year.
According to APEDA, the strong performance in rice and pulses exports reflects the resilience of India’s agri-export sector, while the decline in wheat exports is attributed to government restrictions and prioritization of domestic supply
