Wheat Prices Rise on Strong Buying by Flour Millers

The domestic wheat market witnessed a firm trend today. Prices improved in most markets due to relatively low arrivals in producing centers and active buying by flour millers. Availability in the mandis has declined as farmers are selling limited quantities, while the market continues to receive strong support from the sustained buying activity of flour mills.

Currently, flour millers are making continuous purchases to maintain their stocks as per their requirements. Meanwhile, supply in the open market remains constrained due to lower-than-expected arrivals from producing regions. Consequently, wheat prices remain firm in major trading hubs.

Driven by robust buying, wheat prices in Delhi rose by ₹30 per quintal today, reaching ₹2,750–₹2,760 per quintal. Selling pressure in the market remains low, while demand from flour millers stays strong, providing solid support to prices.

According to sources, FAQ wheat could be sold under the OMSS at a reserve price of ₹2,600 per quintal and URS wheat at ₹2,585 per quintal; trade sources suggest the first tender might be issued during the week of July 12. An official announcement is awaited.

iGrain India believes that if arrivals in the mandis remain limited and flour millers continue buying at the current pace, wheat prices in Delhi could cross the ₹2,800 per quintal mark during July. However, the future direction of the market will depend on the government's potential sales policy.
