Weekly Sugar Market Review
New Delhi. During the week of March 21–27, sugar prices remained largely stable due to normal trading activity and limited offtake. However, mill delivery prices showed some improvement in several states. Prices increased by ₹10 per quintal in Bihar, ₹25 in Madhya Pradesh, ₹30 in West Uttar Pradesh, and ₹40 in Punjab, while Gujarat witnessed a sharp decline of ₹110 per quintal.
Spot Market
In the spot market, sugar prices remained steady in most centers. Prices were quoted at ₹4300–4450 per quintal in Delhi, ₹4070–4150 in Raipur, ₹4150–4300 in Kolkata, and ₹3850–4050 per quintal in Mumbai (Vashi). In Indore, however, prices rose by ₹70 to reach ₹4170–4270 per quintal. Naka delivery prices also remained steady at ₹3800–4000 per quintal.
Maharashtra / Karnataka
Tender prices for sugar in Maharashtra and Karnataka recorded some weakness. During the week under review, demand remained weak and hotels and restaurants showed less interest in purchases. Although the situation has now normalized, a sharp rise in prices still appears unlikely. Meanwhile, the government has announced a domestic sales quota of 2.3 million tonnes of sugar for April.
