Mustard prices soften due to weak buying and normal arrivals

New Delhi. The price of mustard had earlier seen a good rise due to the purchase by government agency - NAFED and it had reached close to or above the minimum support price (MSP). The MSP of mustard was increased by Rs 200 from last year's Rs 5450 per quintal to Rs 5650 per quintal this time. As soon as the price of mustard reached above the support price, its government purchase stopped and then gradually the price also started softening.

42% condition mustard

During the week of 21 to 27 June, the price of mustard in 42 percent condition (oil removed) remained stable at Rs 5900 per quintal in Delhi, but improved by Rs 25 in Jaipur and reached Rs 6050/6075 per quintal.

Gujarat
The price of general category or loose mustard softened by 50-75 rupees in Gujarat and Haryana markets and 50-100 rupees per quintal in Madhya Pradesh markets. Mustard remained stable at 5900 rupees per quintal in Charkhi Dadri, while it decreased by 100 rupees each in Morena and Porsa to 5500 rupees and 5475 rupees per quintal respectively.
Rajasthan
In the most important producer state Rajasthan, the price of mustard either remained stable or softened a bit. In Nagaur, it decreased by 200 rupees to 5000/5600 rupees per quintal. Its price came down by 50 rupees in Alwar and 50 rupees in Khairthal as well. The price improved a bit in Uttar Pradesh. There, the price of mustard improved by 50 rupees in Hapur market to 6150 rupees per quintal and increased by 75 rupees in Agra market to 6525 rupees per quintal. Mustard oil

The price of mustard oil also fell due to the fall in the price of mustard. Although the price of expeller remained stable at Rs 1145 per 10 kg in Delhi, but in Bharatpur it fell by Rs 20 to Rs 1130 per 10 kg. There, Kachi Ghani oil also remained soft by Rs 20.

Arrival

In the markets of major producing states, 5 lakh sacks of mustard arrived on June 21, 4 lakh sacks on June 22, 4.50 lakh sacks on June 24, 4.25 lakh sacks on June 25, 4.25 lakh sacks on June 26 and 4 lakh sacks on June 27. A mustard sack weighs 50 kg.
