Lentil prices fall due to weak buying
Mumbai. Lentil prices declined this week due to increased selling pressure from importers and sluggish buying. Due to sluggish demand for lentils in the international market, selling by farmers from Australia and Canada increased, which led to a fall in international prices of lentils. Mumbai lentils witnessed a fall of Rs 50 per quintal last week due to increased selling by importers and sluggish buying, and with this fall, the price at the weekend became Mundra Rs 5875, Hazira Rs 5900 and container Rs 6100/6150 per quintal. Similarly, Kolkata lentil prices also fell by Rs 50 per quintal this week and the price at the weekend became Rs 5875/5900 per quintal.
Delhi
Due to sluggish demand from dal millers, Delhi lentil prices declined by Rs. 50/100 per quintal last week and with this decline, the weekend prices of small quota became Rs. 6400, Bundi Rs. 6850, Uttar Pradesh Rs. 6900 and Desi badi Rs. 6550 per quintal.
Madhya Pradesh
Due to increased selling and weak buying, Madhya Pradesh lentil prices declined by Rs. 50/100 per quintal last week and the weekend prices remained at Ashoknagar Rs. 5900/6000, Ganjbasoda Rs. 5600/6000, Sagar Rs. 5600/6000, Damoh Rs. 5800/6400, Indore Rs. 6150 and Katni Rs. 6525/6550 per quintal.
Uttar Pradesh
Due to sluggish buying and selling, during the last week, Uttar Pradesh lentil prices fluctuated by 25/50 rupees per quintal and at the weekend, Bareilly small 7000/7050 rupees, thick 6650 rupees, Kanpur 6550 rupees and Lalitpur thick 5900/50 rupees, small 6200/6250 rupees per quintal.
Others
Due to sluggish demand, Bihar lentil prices did not fluctuate during the last week and at the weekend, the prices remained stable at Barh 6600 rupees, Khusrupur 6500 rupees and Mokama 6600 rupees per quintal. Similarly, Raipur lentil also did not fluctuate last week and at the weekend, the price remained stable at 6300 rupees per quintal.
Masoor Dal
Due to sluggish demand, there was no movement in the prices of Masoor Dal last week and the prices remained stable at Jalgaon Rs. 7650, Indore Rs. 7500/7650, Barh Rs. 7600/7900 and Khusrupur Rs. 7500/7800 per quintal during the weekend.
