Jaipur. Rajasthan, a significant wheat producer in the central pool, has announced an additional bonus for farmers on the purchase of this crucial food grain for the current year, as it did last year. It is noteworthy that the central government has increased the minimum support price (MSP) for wheat to Rs. 2,585 per quintal for the 2025-26 Rabi season, an increase of Rs. 160 from the MSP of Rs. 2,425 per quintal for the 2024-25 season.

In the 2024-25 season, an additional bonus of Rs. 175 per quintal above the MSP has been announced, resulting in a price of Rs. 2,735 per quintal for farmers in Rajasthan. This includes the centrally announced minimum support price of Rs. 2,585 per quintal and the state government's bonus of Rs. 150 per quintal.

It is noteworthy that Rajasthan ranks fourth after Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana in terms of wheat contribution to the central pool, with an average annual government procurement of wheat between 20-25 lakh tonnes.

During the current Rabi season, there has been a significant increase in wheat sown area, and crop conditions remain satisfactory. This is expected to improve production.

Due to the announcement of additional bonuses, higher wheat arrivals are expected at government procurement centers in Rajasthan this year as well. Flour millers and traders/stockists may be forced to purchase wheat from farmers at higher prices in the state.
