New Delhi. Although the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops for the upcoming Rabi season has not yet been officially announced, indications suggest that the MSP for various crops for the 2025-26 season could increase by ₹160 to ₹600 per quintal compared to the 2024-25 season.

The central government may significantly increase the support prices for wheat, gram, lentils, and mustard to encourage producers to cultivate larger areas.

Compared to the 2024-25 season, the MSP for wheat for the 2025-26 Rabi season is expected to be increased by Rs. 160 from Rs. 2425 per quintal to Rs. 2585 per quintal.

The support price for barley is expected to be increased by Rs. 170 from Rs. 1980 per quintal to Rs. 2150 per quintal. The MSP for gram is expected to be increased by Rs. 225 from Rs. 5650 per quintal to Rs. 5875 per quintal. The MSP for lentils is expected to be increased by Rs. 300 from Rs. 6700 per quintal to Rs. 7000 per quintal.

The MSP for mustard is expected to be increased by Rs. 250 from Rs. 5950 per quintal to Rs. 6200 per quintal. The support price for safflower safflower is expected to be increased by Rs. 600 from the current level of Rs. 5940 per quintal to Rs. 6540 per quintal.

This is a rough projection of the MSP; the real picture will emerge only after the government announcement. The Rabi crop sowing season officially begins on October 1st.

The government usually announces the MSP in the third or fourth week of September, but this time there was some delay. It is expected that it will be announced soon to facilitate farmers in selecting crops for sowing.
