Rangoon. The heavy export of pulses from Myanmar continued in September. According to data received, during September 2025, Myanmar exported 92,215 tons of black gram and 27,325 tons of pigeon pea to India.

Additionally, Myanmar shipped 9,875 tons of black gram to Pakistan, 6,258 tons to Vietnam, and 7,566 tons to other countries. Regarding pigeon pea, only 176 tons were exported from Myanmar to countries other than India.

The import of green gram is banned in India. In September, Myanmar exported 1,470 tons of green gram to China, 5,882 tons to Vietnam, 1,250 tons to the Philippines, and 4,030 tons to other countries. India primarily imports black gram and pigeon pea from Myanmar.

Available data shows that 115,914 tonnes of black gram (urad) was exported from Myanmar during September 2025, significantly higher than the 87,346 tonnes shipped in September 2024. Similarly, tur (tur) exports from Myanmar also increased from 21,643 tonnes to 27,501 tonnes during the period under review.

During the first nine months of the current calendar year, i.e., January-September 2025, a total of 664,351 tonnes of black gram (urad) was exported to Myanmar, which was about 65,000 tonnes less than the total shipment of 729,267 tonnes in the same months of 2024.

However, tur (tur) exports from Myanmar improved from 253,742 tonnes to 258,095 tonnes during this period. It is noteworthy that 903,526 tonnes of black gram and 299,899 tonnes of pigeon pea were exported from Myanmar during the entire period (January-December) of 2024.

It appears that black gram exports will decline slightly this year compared to last year, while pigeon pea shipments may increase.
