Price Imbalance in Oilseeds Raises Concerns Among Farmers
★ Reports from major agricultural markets across India indicate a mixed trend in the prices of oilseed crops.
★ Mustard in Bharatpur (Rajasthan) is trading at ₹6,690 per quintal and groundnut in Rajkot (Gujarat) at ₹7,500 per quintal — both over ₹700 above last season’s MSP, offering some relief to farmers.

★ However, the biggest concern remains for soybean and sesame, sowing for which is currently underway.
★ Sesame in Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) is priced at ₹8,900 per quintal — ₹367 below the MSP.
★ Soybean in Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) is being sold at just ₹4,350 — ₹542 below the MSP.

★ Farmers say that both soybean and sesame are continuously trading at a loss. If prices remain below MSP during the peak sowing season, many may scale back cultivation, especially in rainfed regions.
★ Experts warn that unless prices stabilize soon, oilseed production in the coming months could take a hit, potentially increasing India’s dependence on imports.
