New Delhi. Food Corporation of India (FCI) data shows that on November 1, 2025, the Central Pool held a total of 64.318 million tonnes of foodgrain stock, a decrease of 3.325 million tonnes from the 67.643 million tonnes on October 1, but an increase of 12.362 million tonnes from the 51.956 million tonnes on November 1, 2024. On November 1, 2023, the Central Pool held only 41.404 million tonnes of foodgrain stock.
Compared to October 1, the Central Pool's rice stock decreased from 35.61 million tonnes to 33.591 million tonnes on November 1, 2025, and wheat stock decreased from 32.033 million tonnes to 30.727 million tonnes.
But during the same period, the stock of paddy jumped from 139.22 lakh tonnes to 309.07 lakh tonnes, while the stock of coarse grains decreased from 3.18 lakh tonnes to 2.04 lakh tonnes.
In fact, the government procurement of wheat has ended long ago (in June) and new supply of rice has not started.
Although the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and its affiliated provincial agencies are vigorously procuring Kharif paddy from farmers, new supply of rice has not started from rice millers. It is getting rice from the old allocated quota of paddy in small quantities.
