★ Maharashtra received 152.2 mm of rainfall between June 1 and June 22, 2026, against the normal of 191.2 mm, resulting in a 20.5% rainfall deficit across the state. During the same period last year, the state had received 131.5 mm, representing a 68.4% rainfall deficit.
★ At the district level, 23 districts recorded 0–25% below-normal rainfall. These include Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik, Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli.
★ Seven districts—Ahilyanagar, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, Hingoli, Amravati, and Chandrapur—recorded 25–50% below-normal rainfall.
★ Three districts—Solapur, Sangli, and Beed—received 50–75% below-normal rainfall, while Dharashiv recorded a 75–100% rainfall deficit. No district reported a rainfall deficit exceeding 100%.
★ At the taluka level, out of 355 talukas, 244 recorded 0–25% below-normal rainfall, 77 received 25–50% below-normal rainfall, 33 recorded 50–75% below-normal rainfall, and 10 received 75–100% below-normal rainfall. An additional 11 talukas recorded a rainfall deficit of more than 100%.
★ The widespread rainfall deficiency has raised concerns over the pace of kharif sowing, with inadequate soil moisture likely to delay field operations in several parts of the state if rainfall does not improve soon.
