New Delhi. The southwest monsoon is currently fully active in all four directions of India as well as in the central part and there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in various states for the next two-three days.

According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon activity remains in Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur in the northeastern region, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha in eastern India, Uttar Pradesh,

Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh in the central region, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh in the western division and Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in the southern peninsula.

Apart from this, rain is either going to happen or is happening in coastal Andhra Pradesh, Royal Seema, some parts of Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, some areas of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Rain continues in Delhi as well.

Due to very heavy rains and waterlogging in the fields in some districts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan, Kharif crops in thousands of acres of land have been submerged.

If the water is not drained as soon as possible, the crops may suffer serious damage. Rajasthan has been receiving heavy rainfall since the last week of June this year.

Similarly, due to heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, rivers like Ganga, Yamuna and Chambal have swelled and this has created the danger of severe floods in many areas.

The area under Kharif crops is ahead of last year, but if the period of heavy rainfall continues in the areas with excessive rainfall, then the possibility of damage to pulses and oilseeds crops will increase.

Its sowing has been completed in most of the areas and now the new plants are in dire need of favorable weather. Monsoon remains quite active in August also.

In the areas where there was less rainfall earlier, the rain that is happening now will prove beneficial for Kharif crops. Floods in rivers are harmful.
