New Delhi. Knowledgeable sources say that there is no possibility of slowdown in the current prices of fenugreek. Due to decreasing arrivals at the production centers and increasing local demand, recently the prices of fenugreek have increased by 50/100 rupees per quintal. The sentiment in the market is still bullish. Sources believe that in the coming days, a gradual increase of 400/500 rupees per quintal in the prices of fenugreek is possible. Currently, the price of average quality fenugreek is being quoted at Rs 4700/5200 per quintal in the markets of production centers.

Although the production of fenugreek during the current season was slightly higher than last year, but due to less outstanding stock, the total availability remains weak. Fenugreek is mainly produced in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan, while the arrival of new crop takes place in the month of March-April.

Low arrivals

Due to most of the total production coming to the markets, the arrivals in the markets have remained quite low at present. In the major producing state Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch market, the arrivals remained 1400/1500 bags and in Javra market it remained 800/1000 bags. Whereas in Mandsaur market, the arrivals are 400/500 bags. In Gujarat's Rajkot market, the arrivals have remained 400/500 bags and in Rajasthan's Kota market, the arrivals have remained 200/300 bags.

Slow rise

Traders believe that due to lack of export demand for some time, there was stability in the prices, but in the coming days, export demand is expected to come up. Apart from this, improvement will be seen in local customer base. Due to which, there is a trade perception that the prices of fenugreek will increase by 400/500 rupees per quintal in the months of August-September.

In the first two months of the current financial year 2025-26, the export of fenugreek has increased by 29 percent in quantity while the income from export has increased by 17 percent.
