ICE cotton futures were mixed in Tuesday’s trading session, with contracts ranging from 35 points lower to 25 points higher. Crude oil rose $0.6477, while the U.S. Dollar Index increased 0.011 points.
In Monday’s Crop Progress report, U.S. cotton rated good to excellent fell 2 percentage points to 38%. The Brugler500 Index declined another 9 points to 310. Conditions deteriorated in Texas (-11), Kansas (-24), Oklahoma (-20), and Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, and Missouri (-2 each). Conditions also weakened in Alabama, Arizona, and Tennessee. Improvements were reported only in North Carolina and Mississippi.
According to The Seam, Monday’s auction sold 892 bales at an average price of 75.15 cents per pound. On August 17, the Cotlook A Index increased 120 points to 94.05 cents per pound. As of August 14, ICE certified cotton stocks remained unchanged at 72,626 bales. Last week, the Adjusted World Price (AWP) increased 190 points to 68.19 cents per pound.
