Kochi. Exports of coconut and value-added coconut products from India surged by 62 percent to reach ₹7,038.25 crore during the 2025-26 fiscal year. Demand and consumption in the global market are rising, and new markets are being explored. Additionally, the scope of manufacturing various products from coconuts is being expanded.

Activated carbon currently dominates the export basket of coconut products. In the 2025-26 fiscal year, its exports rose to ₹4,688.89 crore, accounting for a significant share of the total revenue generated from coconut product exports (excluding coir/fiber). High demand was observed across various countries, driven by applications such as gold mining, water and air purification, removal of carcinogenic substances, energy production, and use in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.

The CEO of the Coconut Development Board stated that, given the rapidly growing international demand, export performance is expected to improve further in the future. World Coconut Day will be celebrated on September 2, and the event will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Kerala. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with various countries are significantly benefiting the coconut industry, enabling coconut products to rapidly reach new markets.
