Bhopal: In Madhya Pradesh, the second-largest contributor of wheat to the central pool after Punjab, the registration of farmers willing to sell wheat to government agencies is gaining momentum. According to available information, about 442,000 farmers had registered by February 25, 2026, and the registration process is still ongoing.

Government procurement of wheat is expected to begin from April 1 at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹2,585 per quintal.

It is noteworthy that during the previous rabi marketing season, the central government had fixed the MSP at ₹2,025 per quintal, while the Madhya Pradesh government announced an additional bonus of ₹175 per quintal, enabling farmers to receive a total price of ₹2,600 per quintal.

Last year, nearly 900,000 farmers sold about 7.771 million tonnes of wheat to government agencies in Madhya Pradesh. So far, no bonus has been announced for the current season.
