Kandla. A decision has been taken to waive ground rent for export containers bound for the Middle East at the Deendayal Port, located in Kandla, Gujarat. No ground rent will be levied on ships (containers) currently berthed within the port premises.
The Deendayal Port Authority has issued a Trade Notice to convey this information. According to the Authority, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways had issued guidelines regarding Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on March 6, 2026; these guidelines were intended for major ports to mitigate the impact of the crisis unfolding in the Middle East.
In adherence to those very guidelines, the Kandla Port Authority has decided to grant an exemption from demurrage charges to containers currently situated within the port premises. A decision has also been taken to extend every possible assistance to import and export containers.
