China Once Again Rejects Shipments of Indian Rice

New Delhi. Exporters are facing severe difficulties and financial losses in shipping Indian rice to China. While Indian rice is indeed imported there, shipments are frequently rejected and sent back under the pretext of the alleged presence of GMO rice.

It is noteworthy that China is fully aware of the fact that GMO rice is neither produced, utilized, nor imported in India—a fact for which it has already been provided with proof.

The quality of rice destined for China undergoes rigorous inspection at Indian ports; yet, despite this, shipments are routinely rejected at Chinese ports based on baseless grounds.

Significantly, India is the world's leading exporter of rice, supplying the grain to a multitude of nations across the globe—including countries in the Americas, Europe, and West Asia—none of which have rejected shipments of Indian rice. Last week alone, China rejected 4–5 shipments of Indian rice.

It appears that China harbors ulterior motives. In reality, China seeks to tarnish the reputation of Indian rice in the global market, thereby undermining its export prospects.
