Regina. Harvesting operations for the pea crop are currently in full swing across top-producing Canadian provinces like Saskatchewan and Alberta, and buyers are showing renewed interest, particularly in yellow peas.

Consequently, the FOB farm price for yellow peas scheduled for September movement has strengthened to $8 per bushel, while green pea prices remain steady between $8.00 and $8.50 per bushel.

Producers are showing significant activity in selling yellow peas due to the firming prices. The market for Maple peas remains quiet, with prices holding steady at $9.00–$9.50 per bushel.

Producers are showing little interest in selling green and Maple peas, as current price levels do not meet their expectations. Early reports suggest that yellow pea production may fall short of initial forecasts, with average yields likely to be lower by 4–5 bushels per acre.

A strengthening trend in yellow pea prices in India over the past few weeks has provided support to the Canadian market. While yellow pea exports are expected to perform well, uncertainty persists regarding other varieties.
