New Delhi. The Central Government has said that despite the Iran-Israel dispute, there was no impact on the export of Indian tea to Iran and its shipment continues regularly there.

According to the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Iranian importers are buying Indian tea in good quantities and the government has not received any information about any hindrance in this.

According to official figures, tea worth $ 296.20 lakh was exported from India to Iran in the year 2023, which increased to $ 408.10 lakh in the year 2024.

During the first half of the current year i.e. January-June 2025, tea worth $ 232.10 lakh was exported from India to Iran, which was more than the export income of January-June 2024 of $ 203.80 lakh and thus there was an increase of 13.9 percent in exports. It is noteworthy that Iran is an important and permanent importer of Indian tea.

Apart from tea, Iran also imports Basmati rice, soya meal, sugar and spices etc. from India on a large scale. India's trade relations with Iran are quite good and there is no problem anywhere.

Tea is produced in India mainly in Assam, Meghalaya, Darjeeling region of West Bengal and Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in South India.

Tea production in India is much more than the domestic demand and requirement, hence it is exported in large quantities to foreign countries. In the global export market, India has to face competition from Sri Lanka and some other countries including China.
