Tuvar market declines due to weak demand, support expected from MSP procurement
Mumbai. The turvar market witnessed a downward trend during the current week. Turvar prices softened due to increased selling pressure and continued weak demand. Limited buying and weak customer response prevented the market from consolidating, leading to continued pressure on prices. According to traders, there is not the expected demand for tur dal, which has led to subdued buying by dal millers. Due to limited buying by millers, there is a lack of demand in the turvar market, which is directly impacting prices. Weak demand has led to a downward trend in the market and a lack of stability in prices. Market sources say that currently, consumption of tur dal in the domestic market is weaker than usual, due to which millers are adopting a cautious approach and purchasing in limited quantities. This has also created pressure in the wholesale tur dal market. However, the tur market is expected to receive some support in the coming days. Government procurement (MSP) of tur is expected to accelerate, particularly in Maharashtra. If government agencies actively increase procurement, the market could find strong support at lower levels, and prices are likely to stabilize.
