Mustard prices rise slightly as trading improves at lower prices
New Delhi: Arrivals of new mustard seeds have begun to gain momentum in major producing states. Prices had previously come under pressure, falling below ₹6,500 per quintal in most markets. Consequently, increased interest from traders and oil millers in purchasing mustard seeds, leading to a rise in the price of this important oilseed by ₹200-₹300 per quintal during the week of February 28-March 6.
42% Condition Mustard
During the week under review, the price of 42% condition mustard seeds improved by ₹50 each to ₹6,450 and ₹6,700 per quintal in Delhi and Jaipur, respectively. The price of mustard seeds of average quality remained relatively stable with limited fluctuations in the markets of Gujarat and Haryana, but increased by ₹200 to ₹6,200 per quintal in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh
The Hapur market in Uttar Pradesh weakened by ₹100. However, a mixed trend was observed in Rajasthan. Mustard prices rose by ₹250 per quintal in Khairthal, Newai, and Tonk, and by ₹375 per quintal in Bundi. Kolkata also saw a rise of ₹100.
Mustard Oil
The rise in mustard oil likely reflected its oil prices, and its prices also increased by ₹1 to ₹3 per kg. Expeller oil prices in Delhi rose by ₹30 to ₹1,350 per 10 kg. In Ganga Nagar, Rajasthan, prices rose by ₹40 to ₹1,330 per 10 kg. Mustard cake and DOC prices either remained stable or slightly increased amid normal trading.
