Mustard prices firm up due to buying by crushing units
New Delhi. Mustard arrivals in the wholesale markets of major producing states have begun to decline, while oil millers and traders are showing interest in purchasing the commodity. Consequently, a slight improvement in the prices of this key oilseed was observed during the week of June 20–26.
42% Condition Mustard
Although the price of 42% condition mustard fell by ₹50 to ₹7,600 per quintal in Delhi and remained steady at ₹7,900 per quintal in Jaipur during the week under review, some rise was noted in the prices of average quality mustard.
Mustard
Under this trend, the price of mustard surged by ₹525 to ₹7,725 per quintal in Porsa (Madhya Pradesh) and rose by ₹150 to reach ₹7,400–₹7,500 per quintal in Gwalior.
MP / UP
A rise of ₹75 was also recorded in Morena. A mixed trend was observed in Haryana's markets, while mustard prices improved by ₹50 per quintal in Hapur and by ₹125 per quintal in Agra (Uttar Pradesh).
Rajasthan
Mustard prices generally improved in the markets of Rajasthan—the leading producing state—though they fell by ₹300 to ₹7,200–₹7,500 per quintal in Kota. In Bharatpur, the price rose by ₹115 to reach ₹7,490 per quintal.
Arrivals
Mustard arrivals in the markets of major producing states stood at 4.50 lakh bags on June 20, 5.25 lakh bags on June 22, 5 lakh bags each on June 23 and 24, 4.50 lakh bags on June 25, and 3.50 lakh bags on June 26; each bag of mustard weighs 50 kg. Mustard prices in almost all the country's markets are hovering around or above ₹7,000 per quintal.
Mustard Oil
A mixed trend was observed in the prices of expeller and *Kachchi Ghani* mustard oils. The price of expeller oil remained steady at ₹1,550 per 10 kg in Delhi, and there was no change in the price level of ₹1,560 per 10 kg in Charkhi Dadri.
Kachchi Ghani / Expeller
In Jaipur, prices softened by ₹5 per 10 kg for *Kachchi Ghani* oil and by ₹15 per 10 kg for expeller oil. Some fluctuations were recorded in the prices of mustard cake and DOC amidst limited trading activity.
