Lentil prices rise due to increased demand
Mumbai. Lentil prices increased during this week due to strong demand from dal millers and stockists. Australia's government agency- ABARES has estimated the domestic production of 16 lakh tonnes of lentils during the 2024-25 season in its new report. Sowing of both these crops is still going on. In the ABARES report, the sowing area of ​​all winter pulse crops in Australia is expected to increase by 17 percent compared to last year and reach 25 lakh hectares this time. Under this, there is an estimation of a good increase in the area of ​​gram and lentil especially. According to the report, the area under lentil cultivation in Australia is expected to increase rapidly and reach a new record level of 8.85 lakh hectares, but its production is likely to be almost equal to last year because there will be an increase in the area under cultivation but there is a possibility of a fall in the average yield rate of the crop. Due to weakening of selling by importers and increase in buying, Mumbai lentil witnessed an increase of Rs. 50/100 per quintal this week and with this increase, the price at the weekend became Rs. 6200 for Mundra, Rs. 6200 for Hazira and Rs. 6300/6350 for container. Similarly, the prices of Kolkata lentil also witnessed an increase of Rs. 50 per quintal this week and with this increase, the price at the weekend became Rs. 6400/6450 per quintal. Delhi
Due to increased buying by dal millers, Delhi lentil prices registered a rise of Rs. 50 per quintal and with this rise, the weekend prices of small Kota became Rs. 6500, Bundi Rs. 6950, Uttar Pradesh Rs. 7000 and Desi Badi Rs. 6700 per quintal.

Madhya Pradesh

Due to normal demand, Madhya Pradesh lentil prices witnessed a rise and fall of Rs. 50/100 per quintal during the last week and with this rise and fall, the weekend prices became Ashoknagar Rs. 5900/6000, Ganjbasoda Rs. 5700/6000, Sagar Rs. 5700/6000, Damoh Rs. 5750/6250, Indore Rs. 6200/6250 and Katni Rs. 6700 per quintal.

Uttar Pradesh

Due to weak selling and increased demand, during this week, Uttar Pradesh lentil prices increased by Rs. 100/150 per quintal and with this increase, the prices at the weekend became Bareilly Choti Rs. 7200/7250, Moti Rs. 6750, Kanpur Rs. 6550 and Lalitpur Moti Rs. 5950/6050 and Choti Rs. 6400/6500 per quintal.

Others

Due to support of all-round uptrend and increased buying, Bihar lentil prices increased by Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week and with this increase, the prices at the weekend became Barh Rs. 6600, Khusrupur Rs. 6500 and Mokama Rs. 6600 per quintal. Similarly, Raipur lentil prices also increased by Rs. 50 per quintal this week and became Rs. 6350 per quintal at the weekend.

Masoor Dal

Due to support of bullishness and improved demand of Masoor, prices of Masoor Dal have improved by Rs. 100 per quintal during the current week and with this improvement the price reached Rs. 7600/7700 per quintal at the weekend.
