Prices firm in Jhansi and Solapur; soft in Bikaner
New Delhi: In Rajkot (Gujarat)—the country's leading producing state—prices remained stable at the previous level of ₹6,000–₹9,000 per quintal, driven by average daily arrivals of 4,000–5,000 bags and normal buying activity. However, in Bikaner (Rajasthan), prices fell by ₹100 to ₹7,400 per quintal due to somewhat weak demand.
Prices
Conversely, driven by robust trading and low arrivals, groundnut prices rose by ₹400 to ₹9,400 per quintal in Solapur (Maharashtra) and surged by ₹500 to reach ₹6,000–₹7,000 per quintal in Jhansi (Uttar Pradesh). Prices also saw an increase of ₹50 in Mauranipur.
Groundnut Kernels
Prices of shelled groundnut kernels in Bikaner recorded a decline of ₹300 per quintal due to weak demand from oil millers and exporters. In contrast, significant trading activity in Solapur and Nagpur (Maharashtra) led to a sharp rise in prices, ranging from ₹200 to ₹600 per quintal, supported by low arrivals and strong demand.
Groundnut Oil
Loose groundnut oil prices remained either stable or rose by ₹1–₹2 per kg across most centers in Gujarat; however, a decline of ₹10–₹30 per 20 kg was recorded in Bikaner, Newai/Tonk, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Branded Oil
No change was observed in the benchmark price of branded groundnut oil in Kota, which remained at ₹2,750 per tin (15 liters). However, the price of filtered groundnut oil softened slightly in Jaipur and Newai.
Sowing
Sowing of the Kharif groundnut crop is currently underway, though the acreage is lagging behind last year's figures. The pace of sowing is expected to pick up.
