Chickpea prices continue to decline as buying remains sluggish
New Delhi. The chickpea market witnessed a bearish trend during the current week. Silent demand and weak buying pressures kept chickpea prices under pressure. According to traders, buying activity in the market was limited this week, preventing prices from strengthening. Trading remained slow in most markets due to the Holi festival. Purchasing by pulse millers and wholesale buyers slowed significantly due to the festival, which directly impacted chickpea prices. Weak demand led to selling pressure in the market, leading to a downward trend in prices. Chickpea dal and gram flour remained weak. Relatively low demand is preventing chickpea from receiving adequate support, leading to a lack of stability in market prices. Arrivals from producing regions are also gradually increasing, maintaining adequate availability. The chickpea market may see some improvement next week. The pace of gram procurement by government agencies is likely to increase. Furthermore, the activity of pulse millers and stockists may also increase, which may boost demand in the market.
