Hyderabad: The Telangana government has fixed the procurement price for Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) of oil palm at ₹23,005 per ton—an increase of ₹1,459—thereby ensuring attractive returns for growers.
The State Director of Horticulture stated that the decision to hike the price was taken after the Telangana Oil Federation provided information regarding the prevailing market rates for crude palm oil and the current palm crop. Telangana is a leading producer of palm in the region.
Telangana's Minister for Agriculture, Cooperation, and Marketing remarked that this price hike would encourage a greater number of farmers across the state to take up oil palm cultivation, thereby boosting enthusiasm, interest, and confidence among growers.
To promote oil palm farming within the state, the government is providing farmers with palm saplings and drip irrigation facilities.
The State Chief Minister recently inaugurated an oil palm processing plant in Narmetta, Siddipet district, which was built at a cost of ₹300 crore.
This facility is capable of processing 30 tons of FFB per hour. The area under oil palm cultivation in Telangana is currently witnessing significant growth and expansion.
