Indore. According to the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA)—a key organization within the domestic vegetable oil industry and trade sector—soymeal exports from the country in April declined to just 50,000 tonnes. This figure is significantly lower than the 214,000 tonnes shipped in April 2025.
During the period under review, domestic soymeal production also fell from 750,000 tonnes to 631,000 tonnes. According to SOPA's latest monthly report, total domestic soymeal production during the first seven months of the current marketing season—spanning October 2025 to April 2026—reached only 5.13 million tonnes.
This represents a shortfall of approximately 400,000 tonnes compared to the 5.52 million tonnes produced during the corresponding period of the 2024-25 season. Meanwhile, export offer prices for soymeal remain elevated.
As per the SOPA report, soybean arrivals across markets nationwide totaled 550,000 tonnes in April 2025; however, in April 2026, this figure dropped by 100,000 tonnes to stand at 450,000 tonnes. Similarly, total soybean supply between October 2025 and April 2026 reached 6.75 million tonnes—a decline of 1 million tonnes compared to the 7.75 million tonnes recorded during the same months of the 2024-25 season. Over these seven months, total soymeal exports from the country also fell from 1.33 million tonnes to 822,000 tonnes.
The report further indicates that approximately 800,000 tonnes of soybeans were crushed domestically in April, whereas 950,000 tonnes were crushed in April 2025.
As of the end of April, the country held a soybean stock of approximately 4.38 million tonnes, with the arrival of the new crop expected to commence in October 2026.
