No Export Sales data will be released on Thursday due to the government shutdown. Traders estimate that soybean sales for the week ending October 16 were between 0.6 and 2 million metric tons. Soymeal sales are expected to range from 150,000 to 450,000 metric tons, and soybean oil sales between 5,000 and 25,000 metric tons.
As part of trade talks, Japan is considering increasing its purchases of U.S. soybeans, although the U.S. already accounts for about 70% of Japan’s total annual soybean imports of 3.3 million metric tons. Secretary Bessent and Chinese counterparts are expected to meet in Malaysia this weekend for trade discussions ahead of the anticipated Trump-Xi meeting at the end of the month.
Brazil’s 2025/26 soybean production estimate from Abiove is pegged at 178.5 million metric tons, up 6.7 million from last year. Soybean crush is also projected to rise by 2 million metric tons to 60.5 million.
