Over 90.93 Lakh Tonnes of Paddy Procured Nationally

New Delhi. During the current Kharif Marketing Season, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and its affiliated provincial agencies have so far procured a total of 90,93,194 tons of paddy for the Central Pool at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) from farmers in various states, equivalent to 60,92,440 tons of rice. Currently, the Food Corporation has not received any rice from the milling of this paddy.

According to official data, in the current Kharif Marketing Season 2025-26, as of October 21, 2025, Punjab has procured the highest amount of paddy for the Central Pool at 44,25,277 tons and Haryana at 36,64,691 tons,

equivalent to 29,64,936 tons and 24,55,343 tons of rice, respectively. Similarly, Tamil Nadu has completed the procurement of 950,062 tonnes of paddy (equivalent to 630,541 tonnes of rice).

In addition, government agencies have procured 31,770 tonnes in Western Uttar Pradesh, 13,508 tonnes in Uttarakhand, 5252 tonnes in Himachal Pradesh, and 2592 tonnes in Jammu and Kashmir. The procurement process is still ongoing in these states.

On the other hand, government procurement of paddy has not yet begun in states such as Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Telangana.

Paddy procurement is also not being conducted in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Government procurement of paddy is expected to begin in most states from November 1, 2025. Paddy production is expected to improve.
