Rabi 2026 Wheat Procurement: 4.42 Lakh Farmers Registered in MP; MSP Fixed at ₹2,585; Punjab Targets 132 Lakh Tons, Rajasthan 23 Lakh Tons
Madhya Pradesh
★ Preparations for the Rabi Marketing Season 2026–27 wheat procurement have gained momentum in Madhya Pradesh. As of 25 February 2026, 4.42 lakh farmers have completed registration. Wheat procurement will take place at a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹2,585 per quintal, with purchases scheduled to begin from 1 April 2026.
★ During the previous season, 9 lakh farmers sold 77.71 lakh tons of wheat against a revised target of 80 lakh tons. At that time, the MSP was ₹2,425 per quintal, along with a bonus of ₹175, resulting in an effective price of ₹2,600 per quintal for farmers. This year, the MSP has been increased to ₹2,585, although no bonus has been announced so far.

Punjab
★ Meanwhile, Punjab has set an ambitious wheat procurement target of 132 lakh tons for Rabi 2026. Procurement in the state will also commence from 1 April 2026. The higher target indicates expectations of strong arrivals and active government buying.

Rajasthan
★ In Rajasthan, the procurement target for this season has been fixed at 23 lakh metric tons. Procurement in the Kota Division will begin on 10 March 2026. The Kota Division has been assigned a target of 6.29 lakh metric tons, covering all four districts of the division along with Sawai Madhopur district.
★ Last year, against a target of 20 lakh tons, the state procured 21.36 lakh tons. At that time, the MSP of ₹2,425 per quintal included a bonus of ₹150 per quintal.

★ At the national level, the wheat procurement target for the upcoming season has been set at 297 lakh tons.
