Online Channels May Drive 40% of FMCG Consumption by 2030

Mumbai. A study survey report has estimated that the business of goods of the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry in India is growing rapidly through online channels and it can reach 40 percent in the next five years i.e. by the year 2030.
Under this, the number of customers-consumers ordering FMCG products through online channels is increasing rapidly, especially in urban areas. Along with this, online business of goods is also expected to increase in rural and town areas.
According to the report, consumers are now paying more attention to convenience rather than expenses and hence are giving priority to ordering goods online. Shopping for daily use essential goods is gaining momentum through this channel.
At present, about 35 percent of the gross e-commerce revenue of FMCG companies is obtained through quick commerce platforms, which clearly indicates the increasing trend and attraction of consumers towards online sales. Most companies are focusing on adopting this method.
The middle class in India is 31 percent of the FMCG companies and its number is more than the total population of the US.
By the year 2031, the number of middle class in India is estimated to jump to 38 percent and by the year 2047, it is estimated to reach 60 percent. Due to this, the online business of FMCG companies' products is expected to grow rapidly on a regular basis.
