Centre revises wheat stock limit
★ Now, traders and wholesalers can hold a maximum of 2,000 metric tonnes of wheat, reduced from the earlier limit of 3,000 metric tonnes.
★ For retailers, the limit has been reduced from 10 metric tonnes to 8 metric tonnes per outlet.
★ Big chain retailers can now store up to 8 metric tonnes of wheat per outlet, while the overall maximum stock will be determined based on the total number of their outlets.
★ Processors can now maintain wheat stocks up to only 60% of their Monthly Installed Capacity (MIC), down from the earlier limit of 70%.
★ All wheat stocking entities must update their stock position every Friday on the wheat stock portal ([https://foodstock.dfpd.gov.in](https://foodstock.dfpd.gov.in)).
★ If any entity holds wheat stock above the prescribed limit, they must reduce it to the permitted level within 15 days from the date of the notification.
★ This will be applicable till 31 March 2026.
