Washim (Maharashtra): Monsoon conditions in the Washim region have remained normal so far this year, allowing Kharif crop sowing to proceed smoothly. According to trade sources, the sowing of Tur (pigeon pea) is at levels comparable to last year, and the crop's current status is considered satisfactory.

In contrast, a significant decline has been recorded in the sowing of Moong (green gram) and Urad (black gram). Reports indicate that the acreage for these two pulse crops is approximately 50 percent lower than last year. Farmers are showing a preference for high-yield cash crops over pulses this season.

There is a notable rise in farmer interest regarding turmeric cultivation. Trade sources report that turmeric sowing has increased by 30 to 40 percent compared to last year. Farmers have expanded the area under turmeric cultivation, driven by expectations of better prices and favorable market prospects.

Market experts believe that if monsoon conditions remain normal in the coming days, Kharif crops are likely to show good growth. However, the reduced acreage for Moong and Urad could impact the future availability and market prices of these crops.
