Government Procurement of Wheat to Take Place from March 4 to June 30

New Delhi: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has stated that, during the current Rabi marketing season, the procurement of wheat from farmers for the Central Pool will generally commence on April 1, 2026; however, in some states, the procurement process has already begun as early as March.
For this year, the Union Ministry of Food has set a national procurement target of approximately 303 lakh tonnes of wheat, comprising 122 lakh tonnes in Punjab, 78 lakh tonnes in Madhya Pradesh, 72 lakh tonnes in Haryana, 21 lakh tonnes in Rajasthan, 10 lakh tonnes in Uttar Pradesh,
18,000 tonnes in Bihar, 10,000 tonnes in Jammu & Kashmir, 4,000 tonnes in Gujarat, 3,000 tonnes in Himachal Pradesh, and 1,000 tonnes in Uttarakhand.
According to information provided by the Food Corporation, the timeline for government wheat procurement has been scheduled as follows: April 1 to May 15 in Punjab and Haryana; March 15 to June 30 in Madhya Pradesh; March 10 to June 30 in Rajasthan; March 17 to June 15 in Uttar Pradesh;
April 1 to June 15 in Bihar; April 15 to May 31 in Jammu & Kashmir; March 4 to May 31 in Gujarat; April 1 to June 15 in Himachal Pradesh; and April 1 to June 30 in Uttarakhand. In those states where procurement was scheduled to begin in March, the process has already commenced, while in the remaining states, it will begin on April 1.
