Cotton Production Expected to Decline in Australia: ABARES
★ According to ABARES, Australia's cotton production is expected to remain below 700,000 tonnes, which would be 33% lower than last year.
★ Adverse weather conditions and the emergence of drought conditions are likely to reduce crop productivity.
★ Water shortages have been reported in the major cotton-growing states of New South Wales and Queensland.
★ ABARES also expects cotton production in Brazil, China, and the United States to decline by around 5% in the future.
★ In Brazil, a reduction from previously record-high production levels is anticipated.
★ As a result of lower output in major producing countries, global cotton markets are expected to remain firm, with the potential for higher prices in the coming period.
