ICE cotton futures ended Thursday’s session with front-month contracts down 80 to 90 points. Crude oil futures fell 17 cents to $60.31 per barrel, while the U.S. dollar index rose $0.333 to 99.355.
After the meeting between President Trump and Chinese President Xi, President Trump posted that China is set to purchase large amounts of other agricultural goods, though no specific details were given about cotton. Tariffs on U.S. agricultural products are expected to be lifted.
In The Seam’s Wednesday online auction, 8,719 bales were sold at an average price of 60.14 cents per pound. On October 29, the Cotlook A Index was up 45 points to 76.40 cents. ICE-certified cotton stocks remained steady at 18,052 bales as of October 29.
