Rio de Janeiro. Brazil, the world's largest soybean producer and exporter located in the South American continent, is expected to once again produce a strong crop of this important oilseed.
According to a leading agricultural consulting firm, the total soybean production in Brazil is expected to reach an all-time high of 177.2 million tonnes during the 2025-26 marketing season, which is about 2.5 percent more than the record production of 2024-25.
As a result, soybean exports from Brazil are also expected to increase from 106 million tonnes to 110 million tonnes in the period under review.
Soybean sowing will start there from next month and harvesting and preparation of the new crop will start from January-February of the year 2026.
Due to the possibility of a spectacular increase in domestic production and uncertainty in the US foreign trade policy, Brazil may get ample opportunity to increase soybean exports.
The US has imposed a 50 percent tariff on many Brazilian products from August 6, but has kept some important products out of its scope.
Another analyst firm has estimated soybean production in Brazil to increase by 5.6 percent to a historical record level of 178.2 million tonnes during the 2025-26 season as compared to the 2024-25 season.
It believes that the sowing area of this important oilseed crop will increase by 2 percent and its average yield rate will also remain high. Soybean production decreased significantly this year due to severe floods in the Rio Grande do Sul province, while it is expected to increase next year.
The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture has estimated soybean acreage in Brazil to increase by 3 percent to 491 lakh hectares and has expressed the possibility of crushing-processing of 580 lakh tonnes in the domestic division.
This clearly indicates that there will be a significant increase in soybean production in Brazil during the 2025-26 season as compared to 2024-25.
